เรื่องราวชวนหัวของนักวิทยาศาสตร์สุดเพี้ยน ฟลินท์ ล็อควู้ด (บิล เฮเดอร์ ให้เสียง) คิดประดิษฐ์เครื่องสุดล้ำ เพื่อช่วยบรรเทาความอดอยากให้แก่ชาวโลก แต่ด้วยความที่เขาทำอะไรเกินตัว เมื่อเครื่องประดิษฐ์ไม่ฟังเขาอีกต่อไป หายนะจึงบังเกิด นักประดิษฐ์ ฟลินต์ ล็อกวูด (บิลล์ เฮเดอร์) เป็นอัจฉริยะรักสันโดษที่อยู่เบื้องหลังสิ่งประดิษฐ์ พิลึกพิลั่นหลายชิ้น และถึงแม้สิ่งประดิษฐ์ทุกชิ้นของเขา นับตั้งแต่รองเท้าพ่นสเปรย์ไปจนถึงเครื่องแปลความคิด ลิง จะล้มเหลวไม่เป็นท่า ฟลินต์ก็ยังคงมุ่งมั่นที่จะสร้างสิ่งประดิษฐ์ที่จะทำ ให้คนมีความสุขออกมาให้ได้
