เรื่อง ราวจากหนังสือนิยายขายดีที่ชื่อว่า ?The Lives of SungKyunKwan Confucian Scholars 1&2
โดยเป็นเรื่องราวมิตรภาพ และความรักของหนุ่มสาวสี่คนที่เกิดขึ้นในสำนักซองกยุ นกวาน สถานศึกษาอันดับหนึ่งในสมัยราชวงศ์โชซอน
ซึ่งเริ่มจากคิมยุนฮี (ปาร์คมินยอง) เพื่อความอยู่รอดของครอบครัว เธอจึงใช้ชื่อของน้องชายที่กำลังป่วย
ปลอมตัวเป็นชายเข้าไปศึกษาในซองกยุนกวาน และได้เป็นเพื่อนกับชายหนุ่มที่เพียบพร้อมนามว่าอีซอ นจุน(ปาร์คยูชอน),
รุ่นพี่หนุ่มเจ้าสำราญ กูยงฮา (ซงจุงกิ) และกบฎหนุ่มมุนแจชิน(ยูอาอิน)
นอกจากนี้ละครเรื่องนี้ยังมีเรื่องราวการเมืองในสมัย โชซอนที่เกี่ยวพันเข้า มาถึงในรั้ววิทยาลัยอีกด้วย
