Microsoft has officially started the public rollout of Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) to systems worldwide, and in addition to the automatic and manual download, a third option is also available.

The software giant has just published the official ISO images for the new OS feature update, allowing users to download and install it from scratch on their devices.

The ISOs are available on Microsoft’s Windows 10 download page, but there’s a catch. If you load this page in a Windows 10 browser, Microsoft instead serves you the Media Creation Tool, which is an application that assists you during the upgrade process.

In other words, you won’t be able to download the ISO images directly, but only via the Media Creation Tool developed by Microsoft.

However, skipping the Media Creation Tool part is still possible, and you can check out this tutorial to download Windows 10 ISOs directly. The only thing you need to do is change the user agent in order to unlock the ISO download links, and afterward, you just have to configure your download by selecting PC architecture and language.

ISO images are particularly helpful in the case of power users who want to update their systems manually, but they also come in handy to IT pros who can configure their own automatic update tasks for computers in their networks.

Furthermore, they can be used for testing purposes in virtual machines, but also for starting from scratch on a certain computer.

Windows 10 October 2018 Update comes with a wide array of improvements, and it’s rolling out to users as an automatic download in stages. Microsoft uses machine learning to determine which systems can update to version 1809 securely without hitting any compatibility issues, and if everything goes right, broad availability should be announced by the end of the year.
