เรื่องย่อ

ในปี 1999 ลอสเองเจิลลิส สำนักงานพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีขั้นก้าวหน้าเพื่อหน่วยงานรัก ษากฎหมาย (ลีเท็ค) ได้พัฒนาและเริ่มใช้งานโปรแกรมโลกเสมือนจริงเพื่อสร้ างอาชญากรที่ชื่อว่า ซิด 6.7 (รัสเซล โครว) ซึ่งมีทั้งความโหดเหี้ยม อำมหิต และฉลาดเป็นกรดซึ่งประกอบไปด้วยรูปแบบของอาชญากรในโล กความเป็นจริงมากกว่า สองร้อยคน เพื่อเป็นแบบทดสอบการจับกุมและหยุดยั้งการก่อคดีของต ำรวจลอส แองเจลิส

เมื่อโปรแกรมเริ่มเปิดใช้งาน ทางลีเท็คจึงอยากมั่นใจว่ามันจะใช้ได้ผล จึงให้ทดลองกับนักโทษอาสาสมัครก่อน โดยมีอดีตตำรวจนักสืบอย่างพาร์คเกอร์ บาร์นส (เดนเซล วอชิงตัน) เป็นผู้ถูกเลือกพร้อมกับนักโทษอีกคนหนึ่ง แต่แล้วก็เกิดความผิดพลาดขึ้นมา

เมื่อซิดเห็นว่าโลกของตนเองในไซเบอร์สเปซมันช่างน่าเ บื่อและอยากจะออกมา “ฆ่าคน” จริงๆ ในโลกจริงบ้าง มันจึงออกมาอาละวาดอย่างไร้ความปราณีและไม่มีใครหยุด ยั้งมันได้ แต่กับบาร์นสนั้น เขาคือคนเดียวที่รู้วิธีคิดของมันและจะต้องหาทางจับต ายมันให้ได้ก่อนที่มัน จะกลายเป็น “อาชญากร” ที่ไร้เทียมทานในที่สุด
