Watchmen 2009 The Ultimate Cut จะมีความยาวถึง 3 ชั่วโมงกว่าๆ จะมีเวอร์ชั่นเป็นการ์ตูนเข้ามาผสมด้วยการใส่อนิเมชั ่น Tales of the Black Freighter มาในเวอร์ชั่น Ultimate Cut ที่มีความยาวร่วม 3 ชั่วโมงครึ่ง เวอร์ชั่นหนังโรงกับ Director’s Cut ไม่ได้ใส่อนิเมชั่นเรื่องนี้เข้ามานั้นนับเป็นเรื่อง ที่ถูกต้อง เพราะคนส่วนใหญ่จะต้องงงแน่ๆว่าทำไมจู่ๆถึงมีการ์ตูน โผล่มาด้วย แต่ Black Freighter คือการ์ตูนซ้อนการ์ตูนที่มีความสำคัญพอสมควร มันสะท้อนถึงแก่นของ Watchmen ที่เมื่อถึงความบ้าคลั่งเข้าครอบงำ ความมีอารยะที่ตนภาคภูมิใจก็สลายไปกับสายลม สุดท้ายแล้วเหลือเพียงแต่การมุ่งหน้าสู่เป้าหมายตามค วามเชื่อของตัวเอง แม้จะต้องเอาซากศพของคนรอบข้างมาเป็นเรือก็ตาม มันเป็นเนื้อหาเชิงอุปมาอุปไมยที่คนอ่าน/คนดูต้องตีความอีกชั้นถึงจะเข้าใจ ฉะนั้นสำหรับแฟนการ์ตูน Watchmen เวอร์ชั่น Ultimate Cut จึงนับว่าเป็นเวอร์ชั่นที่มีความสมบูรณ์ทางด้านเนื้อ หาอยู่พอสมควร
