เรื่องย่อ
Avatar จะนำผู้ชมภาพยนตร์ก้าวสู่โลกใหม่ที่สุดตะลึงตาเหนือล ้ำจินตนาการ เมื่อฮีโร่ผู้จำใจ ต้องออกเดินทางเพื่อปลดเปลื้องและบุกเบิก พร้อมเป็นผู้นำแห่งสงครามเพื่อปกป้องโลกของมนุษย์ต่า งดาวที่เขาเรียกว่าบ้าน เจมส์ คาเมรอน ผู้กำกับเจ้าของรางวัลออสการ์จากภาพยนตร์ Titanic มีโครงเรื่องภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้อยู่ในใจตั้งแต่ 15 ปีที่แล้ว แต่ด้วยข้อจำกัดทางเทคนิคในตอนนั้นจึงไม่สามารถถ่ายท อดจินตนาการออกมาเป็นภาพได้ บัดนี้ เขาใช้เวลากว่า 4 ปีในการถ่ายทำภาพยนตร์เรื่อง Avatar ภาพยนตร์แนวไลฟ์แอคชั่นที่ใช้สเปเชี่ยลเอฟเฟ็คสุดไฮเ ทค Avatar ถูกสร้างออกมาอย่างสมบูรณ์แบบด้วยวิวัฒนาการทางเทคโน โลยีภาพยนตร์ ที่หลอมเราเข้าไปในโลกแห่งอารมณ์และเรื่องราวของตัวล ะคร

ผู้ชมจะเข้าสู่โลกแพนโดราผ่านสายตาของ เจค ซัลลี่(แซม เวิร์ธธิงตัน) อดีตนายทหารเรือผู้พิการที่ต้องนั่งบนรถเข็น แม้ว่าร่างกายไม่สมประกอบ แต่เจคก็ยังมีหัวใจนักรบ เขาได้รับเลือกให้ร่วมเดินทางหลายปีแสงไปยังดาวแพนโด รา ที่ซึ่งมีเหมืองแร่ล้ำค่าหายากที่เป็นหัวใจสำคัญในกา รแก้ปัญหาพลังงานขาดแคลนของโลก และเพราะชั้นบรรยากาศของดาวแพนโดราเป็นพิษต่อมนุษย์ พวกเขาจึงต้องพัฒนาโปรแกรมอวตาร เพื่อแปลงสภาวะจิตของคนให้ไปอยู่ในร่างอวตาร และให้ควบคุมร่างกายได้ในภาวะอากาศที่เบาบาง ร่างอวตารนี้เป็นส่วนผสมทางพันธุกรรมของดีเอ็นเอมนุษ ย์และดีเอ็นเอจากสิ่งมีชีวิตบนดาวแพนโดรา ที่มีชื่อเรียกว่า “นาวี”

ในร่างอวตาร เจค สามารถเดินได้อีกครั้งหนึ่ง และมีภารกิจต้องแทรกซึมเข้าไปในกลุ่มนาวี ชนเผ่าพื้นเมืองที่เป็นอุปสรรคสำคัญของชาวโลกในการเข ้าถึงเหมืองแร่ล้ำค่า แต่นาวีสาวสวยชื่อ นีย์ทิรี้(โซอี้ ซัลดาน่า) ได้ช่วยชีวิตเจคไว้และแผนการทุกอย่างก็เปลี่ยนแปลง เจคได้เข้าร่วมชนเผ่าของเธอ เขาได้ผ่านการทดสอบและการผจญภัยต่างๆ จนได้เป็นหนึ่งในกลุ่มนั้น ความสัมพันธ์ของเจคและนีย์ทีรี้เริ่มลึกซึ้งขึ้น พร้อมๆ กับความนับถือในกลุ่มนาวี ในที่สุดเขาต้องพบการทดสอบและความขัดแย้งที่จะตัดสิน ชะตากรรมของโลก
