เรื่องย่อ :
ประเทศจีน ช่วง 221 ปี ก่อนคริสตกาล กล่าวถึงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่าง อิ๋งเจิ้ง (Ying Zheng) กษัตริย์รัฐฉิน และต่อมาจะทรงเป็นจักรพรรดิองค์แรกของจีน ในพระนาม จิ๋นซีฮ่องเต้ และ นักดนตรี เกา เจียนลี่ (Gao Jianli) ซึ่งแม่ของเขาเคยเป็นแม่นมของ อิ๋งเจิ้ง ในวัยเยาว์ เมื่อครั้งยังเป็นตัวประกันในรัฐเจ้า ซึ่งต่อมาทั้งคู่ได้แยกจากกันภายหลังจาก อิ๋งเจิ้ง ได้กลับรัฐฉิน
ต่อมาเมื่อเติบใหญ่ จิ๋นซีฮ่องเต้ ได้เตรียมการที่จะรวบรวมแผ่นดินจีนเป็นหนึ่งเดียวกัน เขาได้ลักพาตัว เกา เจียนลี่ นักดนตรีส่วนพระองค์ของกษัตริย์จากรัฐหาน เพื่อมาแต่งเพลงสรรเสริญให้แก่จักรวรรดิใหม่ของเขา
แต่ด้วยสถานะที่ขัดแย้งกัน ภารกิจที่ต้องสร้างแผ่นดินให้มีความเป็นปึกแผ่น ทำให้ จิ๋นซี ต้องใช้นโยบายสังหารผู้เห็นต่างอย่างโหดเหี้ยมเป็นจำ นวนมาก รวมถึงธิดาของเขา องค์หญิงซิวหยาง (Yueyang)
