ในยุคปี 1906 สมัยเมจิ ทีมสำรวจทางธรณีวิทยา สำนักเลขาธิการกองทัพหลวงญี่ปุ่น ต้องรีบเร่งสำรวจยอดเขาสึรุงิ ของภูมิภาคชิโกกุ ซึ่งเป็นยอดเขาแห่งเดียว ที่ขึ้นชื่อว่าไม่มีใครพิชิตได้ เพื่อใช้ในการทำแผนที่ญี่ปุ่นให้ครบสมบูรณ์

ขณะเดียวกันชมรมแอลป์ญี่ปุ่น ก็กำลังวางแผนปีนเขาแห่งนี้ให้ได้เช่นกัน ใครจะเป็นผู้พิชิตยอดเขานี้ได้ก่อนกัน
