Plot
ผลงาน Animation เรื่องสุดท้ายของ Studio Ghibli ก่อนหยุดพักการสร้างไปอย่างไม่มีกำหนด ดัดแปลงจากวรรณกรรมเยาวชนคลาสสิกปี 1967 ของ Joan G. Robinson เรื่องราวของ Anna Sasaki เด็กผู้หญิงเงียบๆ ไม่คบค้าสมาคมกับใคร และมีโรคประจำตัวเป็นหอบหืด จนทำให้เธอต้องย้ายจาก Sapporo ไปอาศัยอยู่ต่างจังหวัดที่มีอากาศสะอาด บริสุทธิ์ ซึ่งห่างไกลความเจริญและผู้คน แต่ที่นี่เองเธอก็ได้พบกับเด็กผู้หญิงปริศนาที่ชื่อ Marnie ที่จะทำให้ชีวิตของเธอเปลี่ยนไปตลอดกาล

A young girl is sent to the country for health reasons, where she meets an unlikely friend in the form of Marnie, a young girl with flowing blonde hair. As the friendship unravels it is possible that Marnie has closer ties to the protagonist than we might expect.
