จากนวนิยายสยองขวัญของ สตีเฟ่น คิง นำไปสู่เรื่องราวสยองขวัญและคำสาป Thinner บิลลี่ ฮอลเลค ทนายความร่างอ้วนที่เพิ่งจะทำคดีชนะมาหมาดๆ ในระหว่างที่เขาขับรถอยู่ ด้วยความประมาทบิลลี่จึงขับรถชนหญิงชราคนหนึ่งโดยไม่ ได้ตั้งใจ เธอเสียชีวิต แต่บิลลี่รอดตัวจากกฏหมายมาได้ เนื่องจากมีพรรคพวกและเพื่อนฝูงที่อยู่ในสังคมกฏหมาย ด้วยกันคอยช่วยเหลือ แต่บิลลี่หารู้ไม่ว่าหญิงชราคนนั้นเป็นหนึ่งในกลุ่มค นของพวกยิปซี และสามีของเธอไม่พอใจอย่างมากที่บิลลี่ฆ่าภรรยาของเข าแถมยังลอยนวล ว่าแล้วชายแก่ยิปซีก็สาปบิลลี่ขอให้เขาผอมลง ผอมลง และผอมลงไปเรื่อยๆจนกว่าจะตาย ตอนแรกๆบิลลี่ก็ไม่เชื่อและใช้ชีวิตอย่างปกติสุข แต่หลายวันต่อมาน้ำหนักของเขาก็ลดลงแบบฮวบฮาบจนน่าตก ใจ แต่ที่น่าตกใจยิ่งกว่านั้นก็คือเพื่อนที่ช่วยเหลือบิ ลลี่ก็ถูกสาปเช่นเดียวกันและเขาตายหลังจากนั้นเพียงไ ม่นาน บิลลี่เริ่มเชื่อในคำสาปที่เขากำลังเผชิญอยู่แต่ทว่า เขาจะหยุดยั้งมันยังไงหล่ะ ทางเดียวที่จะรู้ได้ บิลลี่ต้องตามหาชายแก่คนที่สาปเขาให้ได้ และขอให้เขาถอนคำสาปให้ ก่อนที่บิลลี่จะผอมจนเหลือแต่กระดูกและต้องตาย
