ภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ มีพื้นฐานมาจากเหตุการณ์จริงในเมืองพอยต์ เพรสเซ้นท์ (Point Pleasant) รัฐเวสต์เวอร์จิเนีย ในเหตุการณ์ความหายนะครั้งยิ่งใหญ่ ของสะพานซิลเวอร์ซึ่งเกิดอุบัติเหตุพังทลายลงในปี 1967 เพียงช่วงเวลา 45 วินาทีโครงสร้างทั้งหมดหล่นลงไปทับบรรดารถที่ตกลงไปล อยในแม่น้ำอยู่ก่อนแล้ว ส่งผลให้คนตายไปทั้งหมด 44 คนและสูญหายอีก 2 คน หลังจากการสืบสวนผ่านไป 4 ปีจึงได้ข้อสรุปว่าสาเหตุมาจากความชำรุดของโลหะ หากแต่โศกนาฎกรรมครั้งนั้นยังเป็นปริศนาลึกลับและสร้ างความคลางแคลงใจให้กับชาวเมืองพอยท์พลีแซนท์ให้กล่า วถึงจนทุกวันนี้ หนังสร้างเหตุการณ์จริงนี้ ดัดแปลงจากหนังสือ best-selling ที่เขียนโดย John A, Keel ธีมหลักเป็นการดำเนินเรื่องให้ดูเหนือธรรมชาติในแบบเ ดียวกับ X files ผสมกับความลึกลับสไตส์ฮิทช์คอร์ก ที่มีทั้งลางสังหรณ์ ภาพนิมิตร และสร้างความกดดันทำให้ตื่นเต้นไปตลอด แม้จะเต็มไปด้วยบรรยากาศครุมเครือและมีฉากแอ็คชั่นเฉ พาะช่วงท้าย แต่การที่หนังไม่บอกอะไรออกมาทั้งหมดกลับทำให้หนังสม จริง และทำให้เราเกิดจินตนาการได้ดีกว่า ไม่น่าจะผิดหวังหากคุณชอบแนวนี้
