เนื้อหาของเกม " รูนเนอร์ " จะนำเสนอเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นในโลกยุคอนาคตปี 2091 ณ มหานคร Rengkok City เมืองใหญ่ที่เจริญด้วยเทคโนโลยีอันล้ำสมัย สวนทางกับจิตใจประชากรมนุษย์ผู้อยู่อาศัยที่นับวันเร ิ่มต่ำตม โดยผู้เล่นจะได้รับบทตัวละครเอกหนุ่มมือสังหารผู้มีแ นวคิดต่อต้านสังคม ที่ต้องออกเดินทางตามหาช่วยเหลือพี่น้องร่วมสายเลือด ที่ถูกองค์กรโฉดลักพาตัวไป พร้อมกับเปิดโปงแผนการคอรัปชั่นที่กำลังกัดกินเมืองแ ห่งนี้
ตัวเกมจะเป็นแนวแอ็คชั่นชูตติ้งมุมมองจากด้านบน ที่มอบอิสระให้ผู้เล่นสามารถเลือกวิธีจัดการกับกลุ่ม ศัตรูทั้งที่เป็นมนุษย์ และหุ่นยนต์ ได้อย่างหลากหลาย ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการใช้อาวุธโจมตีระยะประชิดอย่างดาบคาตา นะ หรือหยิบจับอาวุธปืนนานาชนิดขึ้นมากราดยิง ไล่ตั้งแต่ปืนพก , กลเบา , ไรเฟิล , ลูกซอง ไปจนถึงอาวุธสุดไฮเทคอย่างปืนเยือกแข็ง , ปืนใหญ่สายฟ้า หรือแม้กระทั่งเรลกัน
นอกเหนือจากคลังสรรพาวุธที่ขนมาให้เลือกจนลายตาแล้ว ตัวละครเอกภายในเกมยังมีความสามารถพิเศษที่ช่วยให้ผู ้เล่นลุยฝ่ากองทัพศัตรูได้เพียงลำพัง อาทิ สกิลแดชเคลื่อนที่หลบหลีกอย่างรวดเร็ว, โล่ห์บาเรียที่สามารถป้องกันปัดป้องกระสุนจากศัตรู รวมไปถึงโหมดสโลว์โมชั่น ที่จะชะลอทุกอย่างในฉากให้ช้าลง
สำหรับ Reikon Games ถือเป็นสตูดิโอพัฒนาเกมอิสระน้องใหม่ ที่เพิ่งถูกก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อปี 2014 โดยเกิดจากการรวมตัวกันของ 4 ดีไซน์เนอร์เกมมือฉมัง ผู้ผ่านประสบการณ์อันโชกโชนมาจากแฟรนไชส์เกมชื่อดังอ ย่าง The Witcher , Dying Light , This War of Mine และ Shadow Warrior
