นายพลเชสเตอร์ ชวนโรเจอร์ มาเข้าร่วมโครงการลับ “operation rebirth” โปรเจคที่ทดลองเกี่ยวกับการสร้างสุดยอดทหารด้วย super soldier serum ทำให้โรเจอร์กลายเป็นสุดยอดทหาร ที่มีใจรักชาติเต็มเปี่ยม และถูกส่งไปร่วมรบที่สมรภูมิที่ยุโรป ต่อต้านกองทัพของฮิตเลอร์

เขาถูกเด็กวัยรุ่นคนหนึ่งรู้ถึงตัวตนที่แท้จริง เด็กคนนั้น คือ บัคกี้ บาร์นส์ ซึ่งภายหลังโรเจอร์ได้รับเขาเป็นคู่หู ระหว่าง การรบกับ Baron Heinrich Zemo ทำให้ บัคกี้ บาร์นส์ หายสาบสูญ ส่วนตัวโรเจอร์ตกลงในมหาสมุทร Arctic ทำให้ร่างกายของเขาถูกแช่แข็งมาตลอดห้าสิบปี ก่อนที่จะถูกต้นพบโดยเหล่า Avengers ตื่นขึ้นสู่ยุคปัจจุบัน !!!
