หากไม่นับทางรถไฟสายมรณะอันขึ้นชื่อในเมืองไทยแล้ว เมื่อกล่าวถึ งรถไฟ กับ สงครามโลกครั้งที่สอง คุณจะนึกถึงอะไรบ้าง? แม้ในสมัยนั้นจะเริ่มมียวดยานพาหนะที่ทันสมัยมากขึ้น แต่การขนคนหรือสิ่งของอาวุธยุทโธปกรณ์จำนวนมากๆ หรืออะไรที่ขนาดใหญ่ๆ ยังต้องใช้รถไฟที่ลากได้ทีละหลายๆ โบกี้ แม้กระทั่งสมัยนี้ก็เถอะครับ คนที่เคยดูภาพยนตร์เกี่ยวกับการฆ่าล้างเผ่าพันธุ์ยิว คงเคยเห็นพวกนาซีในหนังขนชาวยิวใส่รถไฟเป็นขบวนๆ ส่วนเรื่อง Von Ryan's Express (1965 - พ.ศ.2508) ที่จะคุยกันในวันนี้ เดิมทีพระเอกกับพรรคพวกเชลยศึกถูกพวกนาซีจับใส่รถไฟจ ะขนไปไหนก็ไม่ทราบ แต่ด้วยความสามารถของบรรดาเชลยก็สามารถยึดรถไฟขบวนดั งกล่าวมาใช้เป็นพาหนะในการหลบหนีได้ แต่(อีกที)ก็ต้องแลกด้วยการเสียสละชีวิตของใครต่อใคร รวมถึงตัวพระเอกเอง
