ในช่วงปี 1900 ชาวต่างชาติเข้ามากอบโกยหาผลประโยชน์จากจีน ทำให้ชาวจีนลุกฮือขึ้น ตั้งเป็นกลุ่มรักชาติ และเรียกตัวเองว่า พวกบ็อกเซอร์ เรื่องราวเริ่มลุกลามอย่างใหญ่โต ชนวนจากการสังหารทูตเยอรมัน ฝ่ายเจ้าถิ่นหวังได้ชัยจากจำนวนคนมากกว่า เข้าจัดการกับพวกต่างชาติที่อยู่ในปักกิ่ง ขณะที่ฝ่ายต่างชาติพยายามยืนหยัดต่อสู้ด้วยยุทโธปกรณ ์และกำลังที่เหลืออยู่น้อยนิด แต่ด้วยการร่วมแรงร่วมใจ ทำให้สามารถยืนหยัดอยู่ได้นานถึง 55 วัน ก่อนการรบจะยุติลงด้วยน้ำตาของเจ้าบ้าน
