โบรดี้ ทอร์เรนซ์ (เจอราร์ด บัตเลอร์) กัปตันเครื่องบินโดยสารที่ต้องนำเครื่องลงจอดบนเกาะแ ห่งหนึ่งหลังเกิดเหตุฉุกเฉินบนน่านฟ้า แต่ทว่านี่กลับเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของวิกฤติสุดเลวร้าย เมื่อเกาะแห่งนี้กลับกลายเป็นเขตสงครามสุดอันตราย ที่นำไปสู่สถานการณ์หน้าสิวหน้าขวาน เมื่อผู้โดยสารบนเครื่องถูกกบฏแบ่งแยกดินแดนจับเป็นต ัวประกัน ซึ่งที่พึ่งสุดท้ายของทอร์เรนซ์ก็คือ หลุยส์ กาสปาร์ (ไมค์ โคลเตอร์) ผู้ต้องหาคดีฆาตกรรมที่เอฟบีไอส่งตัวมาพร้อมกับเที่ย วบินนี้ ทำให้กัปตันที่เคยจับแค่คันบังคับเครื่องต้องหันมาจั บปืนร่วมมือกับนักโทษสุดอันตราย ผนึกกำลังเป็นคู่หูสุดระห่ำแบบเฉพาะกิจ ลุยแบบไม่สนตายเพื่อช่วยชีวิตผู้โดยสารทุกคนให้ถึงบ้ านอย่างปลอดภัย
