Samurai Warriors 2" เป็นเกมแนวเดินลุยแหลกจากผู้สร้างเดียวกับ Dynasty Warriors โดยเปลี่ยนฉากของเรื่องจากสามก๊กมาเป็นสงครามกลางเมื องในญี่ปุ่น ในภาค 2 นี้ไม่ใช้เนื้อเรื่องเหมือนเดิม แต่จับเอาช่วงท้ายของภาคแรกและเรื่องราวต่อจากนั้น รวมถึงตัวละครต่างๆก็ได้มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงไปบ้าง
การรบในภาคนี้ออกแบบฉาก มาค่อนข้างยาว ไม่มีการตีหัวหน้าแล้วจบทันทีง่ายๆ เราต้องวิ่งไปตามส่วนต่างๆของแผนที่เพื่อทำภารกิจย่อ ยไปทีละอย่าง เช่นอัดคนเฝ้าประตูเปิดทาง หยุดการยิงปืนใหญ่ หรือช่วยเพื่อนแบบเร่งด่วน แถมยังมีทัพเสริม , ซุ่มโจมตี , พวกเดียวกันทรยศให้เห็นต ลอด กว่าจะได้เจอแม่ทัพศัตรูก็กินเวลาพอสมควร ซึ่งถ้าพลาดตายหรือแพ้ตามเงื่อนไข เกมก็ยังไม่ใจร้ายเกินไปนัก เพราะจะได้เงินกับ Exp บางส่วน เพื่อให้เล่นซ้ำอีกรอบได้ง่ายขึ้น
