Splinter Cell: Blacklist ในภาคนี้ตัวเอกยังคงเป็น Sam Fisher พร้อมผู้ช่วยคือ Anna "Grim" เหมือนเคย โดยในภาคนี้เขาได้รับบทเป็นหัวหน้าของหน่วย Fourth Echelon ซึ่งเป็นหน่วยที่ก่อตั้งใหม่โดยสหรัฐ (ภาคก่อนๆ จะได้ยินแต่หน่วย Third Echelon ซึ่งปิดตัวลงแล้ว) ตัวเอกต้องนำทีมของเขาหยุดยั้งหน่วยก่อการร้ายจากแผน การคุกคามครั้งใหญ่ ที่เรียกว่า "Blacklist" เกมเพลย์ในภาคนี้ยังคงความเป็น Splinter Cell ในแบบที่เคยเป็นด้วยการส่งผู้เล่นไปยังสถานที่ต่างๆ พร้อมด้วยความสามารถใหม่ๆของ Sam Fisher และอาวุธยุโธปกรณ์มากมายในการทำภารกิจให้เสร็จสิ้น Ubisoft ดูเหมือนจะรู้ดีว่าไม่ใช่ผู้เล่นทุกคนที่ต้องการเล่น เกมในรูปแบบของการลอบเร้น ดังนั้นใน Blacklist จึงได้มาพร้อมกับรูปแบบการเล่นที่หลากหลายทั้ง Ghost, Panther, และ Assault ทั้ง 3 รูปแบบมีการเล่นที่แตกต่างกันอย่างสิ้นเชิงตามแนวทาง การเล่นของผู้เล่น Ghost นั้นจะเป็นไสตล์การเล่นที่ผู้เล่นสามารถผ่านภารกิจได ้โดยไม่ฆ่าใครเลยไม่ถูกพบเจอเลยได้ ในขณะที่ Assault นั้นคือด้านตรงข้ามของ Ghost ที่อนุญาติให้เราฆ่าทุกอย่างที่ขวางหน้า และสุดท้ายกับ Panther ที่ผสมผสานการเล่นทั้ง 2 แบบเข้าไว้ด้วยกัน คุณอาจจะเข้าไปเชือดศัตรูแบบเงียบๆและใช้ความสามารถ Mark&Execute ในการสังหารศัตรูที่เหลือ จากนั้นก็ควักปืนไรเฟิลออกมายิงศัตรูที่วิ่งเข้ามา Panther นั้นดูเป็นรูปแบบการเล่นที่น่าจะสนุกมากที่สุดและทำใ ห้คุณรู้สึกราวกับเกมเป็นสายลับระดับพระกาฬ แต่เชื่อผมเถอะในการเล่นแบบ Ghost และ Assault นั้นก็น่าสนุกไม่แพ้กัน
