เรื่องย่อ

ชายหนุ่มชาวนิวยอร์คตื่นขึ้นมาแล้วเขาพบว่าตัวเองอยู ่ในสถานที่หนึ่งที่เรียกว่า หมู่บ้าน ที่ถูกล้อมรอบไปด้วยทะเลทราย ซึ่งปกครองโดยคนที่รู้จักกันในนาม หมายเลข 2 ทุกๆ คนในหมู่บ้านจะถูกเรียกโดยหมายเลข และทุกๆคน เรียกเขาว่า หมายเลข 6 คนในหมู่บ้านบอกเขาว่า เขาอาศัยอยู่ในหมู่บ้าน และหมู่บ้านเท่านั้นที่เป็นความจริงเพียงอย่างเดียวข องการมีอยู่จริง หมายเลข 6 มีความทรงจำที่สับสนเกี่ยวกับ ชีวิตของเขาในนิวยอร์ค และผู้หญิงที่ชื่อ ลูซี่ ซึ่งอาจจะเป็นส่วนสำคัญในการค้นหาว่า ทำไมเขาจึงมาอยู่ในหมู่บ้าน หมายเลข 6 หาข้อมูลจากคนในหมู่บ้านที่เขาเชื่อใจ หมอที่มีชื่อว่า หมายเลข 313 , คนขับแท็กซี่ ชื่อว่า หมายเลข 147 และ ลูกชายของหมายเลข 2 ชื่อว่า หมายเลข 11-12 ภารกิจของหมายเลข 6 จึงกลายเป็น การหาว่าหมู่บ้านตั้งอยู่ที่ไหน ใครคือ หมายเลข 2 แล้วทำเขาจึงดูเหมือนเป็นนักโทษในหมู่บ้านนี้
