เรื่องราวเริ่มต้นเมื่อปี 1959 เด็กนักเรียนประถมกลุ่มหนึ่งได้วาดรูปสิ่งที่คิดว่าจ ะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต แล้วใส่ไว้ในแคปซูล 40 ปีต่อมา เมื่อเปิดแคปซูลออกมา ลูกชายของเท็ด ก็ได้เจอกระดาษหนึ่งแผ่นที่มีแต่ตัวเลข เท็ด (นิโคลัส เคจ) ได้ตรวจสอบกระดาษแผ่นนั้น และรู้ว่ามันคือคำทำนายบางอย่าง ถึงเหตุการณ์ที่จะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต และเมื่อมันเกิดขึ้นจริงๆ เขาก็เชื่อว่าวันอวสานของโลกกำลังจะคืบคลานเข้ามาภาย ในอีกไม่นาน
