เรื่องราวของ Oblivion เกิดขึ้นในโลกอนาคตหลังการล่มสลาย เมื่อโลกกลายเป็นดาวเคราะห์ที่พังพินาศจนสภาพแวดล้อม บนพื้นโลกไม่สามารถ อาศัยอยู่ได้อีกต่อไป มนุษย์ส่วนใหญ่ต้องพากันขึ้นไปอาศัยอยู่บนนครลอยฟ้าแ ทน แต่ยังมี แจ็ค ฮาร์เปอร์ (รับบทโดย ทอม ครูซ) มนุษย์คนสุดท้ายที่ถูกส่งลงมายังพื้นโลก เพื่อซ่อมแซมหุ่นยนต์ที่ใช้ควบคุมมนุษย์ต่างดาว จนกระทั่งวันหนึ่ง เมื่อแจ็คได้พบซากยานอวกาศที่ตกลงมา พร้อมกับสาวสวยที่รอดชีวิตมากับยานลำนั้น แล้วชีวิตของเขาก็เปลี่ยนไป ทั้งได้พบกับความรักโรแมนติก การผจญภัย และอันตรายที่แม้จินตนาการก็ไม่อาจคาดเดาได้
