หนังพาย้อนไปในหน้าร้อนปี 1987 เมื่อหนุ่มหน้าจืดหัวหยอย James (Jesse Eisenberg) ที่เพิ่งเรียนจบ ม.ปลาย และโดนแฟนบอกเลิกมาหมาดๆ ดันอดไปเที่ยวยุโรปอย่างที่วาดฝันเอาไว้เพราะพ่อแม่ข องเขาเกิดขาดสภาพคล่อง ทางการเงินขึ้นมาพอดี (วัยรุ่นเซ็ง) ช่วงหน้าร้อนนี้เลยต้องระเห็ดไปหางานทำเพื่อเก็บเงิน แทน ก่อนที่เขาจะต้องไปเริ่มต้นชีวิตนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัย ใน นิวยอร์ค ตอนเปิดเทอม และหลังจากที่ชวดไปหลายงาน ในที่สุดงานที่เขาได้ก็ดันเป็นงานสุดท้ายที่เขาจะอยา กทำนั่นคือ งานพนักงานคุมบูธเกมในสวนสนุก Adventureland ซึ่งหลังจากที่ทำงานไปแบบเบื่อๆ เซ็งๆ ในช่วงแรก ก็พลันมีชีวิตชีวาขึ้นมาทันใดเมื่อเขาได้รู้จักกับเพ ื่อนร่วมงานสาวสวยอย่าง Em (Kristen Stewart) ที่เหมือนจะมีใจให้กับเขาด้วย แต่เรื่องราวความรัก(วัยรุ่น)ใช่ว่าจะโรยไปด้วยกลีบก ุหลาบอยู่แล้ว ซึ่งนั่นก็ต้องลุ้นกันเอาเองว่าจะหนังจะจบลงยังไง
