คืนหนึ่งหลังจากจบงานเลี้ยงฉลองวันเกิดครบรอบ 37ปี ผู้ชายธรรมดาๆ คนหนึ่ง จอร์จ มัลเลย์ (จอห์น ทราโวลต้า)บังเอิญมองขึ้นไปบนทัองฟ้า พลันมีแสงสว่างลึกลับจากฟากฟ้าพุ่งตรงมายังร่างของเข า ซึ่งหลังจากค่ำคืนวันนั้น มันทำให้เขามีความฉลาดปราดเปรื่องเหนือกว่ามนุษย์ปกต ิทั่วไป มีความสามารถในการใช้พลังจิตและความสามารถพิเศษต่างๆ เพิ่มขึ้นมามากมายอย่าง น่าอัศจรรย์ แต่ทว่ามันเกิดอะไรขึ้นกับเขากันแน่ และแสงนั่นคืออะไร แต่มันได้ทำให้ชีวิตของผู้ชายธรรมดาๆคนนึงต้องเปลี่ย นไปตลอดกาล แต่สิ่งที่ยังคงอยู่และไม่เปลี่ยนแปลงคือความรักของเ ขาที่มีต่อ เธอ.........
