ไคล์ แพรท อดีตวิศกรผู้ออกแบบเครื่องบินโดยสารสองชั้นสุดหรูหรา บินจากเยอรมันไปอเมริกากับจูเลีย ลูกสาวอายุ 6 ขวบ และโลงศพสามีเธอในห้องสัมภาระใต้ท้องเครื่องบิน หลังเครื่องทะยานขึ้นได้ 3 ชั่วโมง ไคล์ตื่นมาอีกทีก็พบว่าจูเลียหายตัวไป เธอออกตามหาจนทั่วแต่ไม่พบ ทั้งสจ๊วตและแอร์โฮสเตสต่างก็ช่วยกันค้นหาตามคำสั่งข องกัปตันแต่ก็ไม่พบ แถมกัปตันยังได้รับรายงานว่า สามีและลูกสาวของเธอได้เสียชีวิตไปแล้วทั้งคู่อีกต่า งหาก ไคล์อยู่ในสภาพที่เหมือนกับคนสติแตก อาศัยความรู้เรื่องเครื่องบินที่ตนเองเป็นผู้ออกแบบ สร้างความระทึกขวัญแก่ผู้โดยสารอีกสี่ร้อยกว่าคนจนถู กจับ และหลายเหตุการณ์ที่ทำให้ไม่มีใครในเครื่องบินลำนี้เ ชื่อเธอเลย ถ้าคุณต้องอยู่ในสถานการณ์ดังกล่าว คุณเชื่อไหมครับว่าตัวเองประสาทหลอน และลูกสาวคุณเป็นเพียงจินตนาการ
