เรื่องย่อ

This pirate adventure centers on the tales of Captain Flint and his men and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson s classic Treasure Island. Flint, the most brilliant and most feared pirate captain of his day, takes on a fast-talking young addition to his crew who goes by the name John Silver. Threatened with extinction on all sides, they fight for the survival of New Providence Island, the most notorious criminal haven of its day, a debauched paradise teeming with pirates, prostitutes, thieves and fortune seekers, a place defined by both its enlightened ideals and its stunning brutality.

เรื่อง Black Sails เป็นซีรี่ย์เกี่ยวกับยุคทองของโจรสลัดแห่งทะเลแคริบเ บียน การตามล่าเรือสมบัติและการช่วงชิงอำนาจ ซีรี่ย์เรื่องนี้เป็นคล้ายๆกับ prequel ของ "Treasure Island" นิยายคลาสสิคของโรเบิร์ต หลุยส์ สตีเวนสัน เนื่องจากกล่าวถึงเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นเมื่อ 20 ปีก่อนหน้าเรื่องราวที่เล่าในหนังสือ ตัวละครอย่าง กัปตันฟลินต์, จอห์น ซิลเวอร์และบิลลี่ โบนส์เป็นตัวละครที่หยิบยืมมาจากนิยายต้นฉบับ ส่วนตัวละครอย่างเกตส์, พวกกัธรี่ ฯลฯ เป็นตัวละครที่แต่งขึ้นมาใหม่ นอกจากนี้ยังมีตัวละครอย่าง กัปตันเวน, แร็คแฮม, แอนน์ บอนนี่ และสลัดเคราดำที่อ้างอิงมาจากโจรสลัดตัวจริงในประวัต ิศาสตร์อีกด้วย
