The Last Stand เป็นเรื่องราวของ เรย์ โอเว่นส์ (อาร์โนลด์ ชวาร์เซเน็กเกอร์) เจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจที่เคยทำผิดพลาดในอดีต เขารู้สึกผิดและตัดสินใจย้ายออกจากแอลเอ เพื่อเริ่มต้นชีวิตใหม่ด้วยการเป็นนายอำเภอในเมืองโซ เมอร์ตัน เมืองเล็ก ๆ ที่อยู่แถบชายแดนแต่ในขณะที่ทุก ๆ อย่างในชีวิตของ เรย์ ดูเหมือนจะไปได้ดี ความสงบสุขก็ถูกทำลายลงอีกครั้ง เมื่อ กาเบรียล คอร์เตส หัวหน้าแก๊งค้ายารายเบิ้มหลบหนีออกมาจากคุกพร้อมตัวป ระกัน และก็กำลังมุ่งหน้ามายังเมืองโซเมอร์ตัน ที่เป็นทางผ่านในการหลบหนีข้ามประเทศ เรย์ จึงตัดสินใจลุกขึ้นมาเพื่อทำหน้าที่เป็นปราการด่านสุ ดท้าย
