คือ พลทหารเรือซานติเอโก ได้รับ รหัสแดง (รหัสของการลงโทษแบบลับ) จากการที่ทำอะไรผิดพลาดอยู่บ่อย ๆ
โดย นาวาเอกนาธาน เจสเซ็ป (แจ๊ค นิโคลสัน) เป็นผู้สั่ง ในคิวบา เจสเซป กับนายทหารระดับสูงสองนาย (เจ ที วอล์ช และ คีเฟอร์ ซุเธอร์แลนด์)
พยายามจะเฉไฉจากประเด็นที่คัฟฟีเปิด แต่คัฟฟีรู้ว่าเรื่องนี้มีบางอย่างน่าเคลือบเคลือง และท้ายที่สุด
อารมณ์ที่อัดแน่นอยู่จึงระเบิดออกมา ในการเผชิญหน้าระหว่างเจสเซ็ปและคัฟฟี
