เรื่องย่อ

"ปฐมบท" การผจญภัยของนักมายากลหนุ่มในดินแดนมหัศจรรย์ "ก่อน" ที่เขาจะกลายเป็น "พ่อมดแห่งออซ" ผู้ยิ่งใหญ่
ออสการ์ ดิกส์ (เจมส์ ฟรังโก้) นักมายากลหนุ่มประจำคณะละครสัตว์ที่ไม่ค่อยมีชื่อเสี ยง ถูกพัดพาจากแคนซัส ไปสู่ดินแดนมหัศจรรย์แห่งออซ ที่ที่ทำให้เขามีพร้อมทั้งชื่อเสียงและความมั่งคั่ง จนกระทั่งเขาได้พบกับแม่มดทั้งสาม ธีโอดอร่า (มิล่า คูนิส), อีวานอร่า (ราเชล ไวซ์), และ กลินด้า (มิเชลล์ วิลเลี่ยมส์) ที่ไม่เชื่อว่าเขาคือพ่อมดผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ที่ใคร ๆ รอคอยอยู่
