เรื่องราวของหนุ่มนักบินฝึกหัดของกองทัพสุดหล่อ ที่มีผลการเรียนระดับท๊อปแต่มีปมฝังใจเรื่องอดีตของพ ่อที่ถูกตราหน้าว่าทำ ให้เพื่อนร่วมรบต้องเสียชีวิต เขาจึงต้องเอาชนะทั้งบททดสอบจากสนามรบและบททดสอบด้าน จิตใจของตัวเองด้วย

Top Gun ขึ้นชื่อว่าเป็นหนังทหารที่ดังเอามากๆ ในยุคหนึ่ง (ดังขนาดจนต้องมี Hot Shot ทำออกมาล้อเลียนกันในปีถัดๆมา) และน่าจะเป็นสปริงบอร์ดให้ Tom Cruise ก้าวเข้าสู่การเป็นซุปเปอร์สตาร์อย่างเต็มตัว (เพราะหลังจากนั้นเขาก็เริ่มรับบทหนังดีๆ ที่ประดังเข้ามาเรื่อยๆ)....."
