มันคือ Baby Driver เวอร์ชั่นทุนต่ำ ตัวพล็อตเรื่องคล้ายกันในหลายแง่มุมเช่น ตัวเอกเป็นคนธรรมดาที่ต้องมารับงานขับรถให้อาชญากรเพ ื่อใช้หนี้เก่า, เกิดปัญหาถูกตามล่าต้องหาทางเคลียร์ตัวเอง, ต้องปกป้องคนรัก, และอาจจะเหมือน ๆ กันที่ส่วนใหญ่ของเรื่องถูกเขียนขึ้นมาเพื่อโชว์ฉากข ับรถ แต่สไตล์ของ Wheelman อาจจะเทียบเคียงกับ Locke คือตัวเอกต้องขับรถเกือบตลอดเวลาพร้อม ๆ กับรับสายโทรศัพท์เพื่อหาทางคลี่คลายปัญหา โดยปัญหานั้นก็คืองานปล้นธนาคารของ 'วีลแมน' (Frank Grillo) ถูกแทรกแซงกะทันหันจนทำให้เขากลายเป็นนกสองหัว ซึ่งเขาต้องสืบหาให้ได้ว่าใครเป็นคนหักหลังจนทำให้ตั วเองต้องมาตกที่นั่งลำบาก

บอกก่อนว่าชอบแฟรงก์ กริลโลมาก เราค่อนข้างยินดีที่เขาไต่เต้าตัวเองจากตัวประกอบในห นังแอ็คชั่นทั้งหลายกลายมาเป็นนักแสดงหนังแอ็คชั่นมี มาดที่โดดเด่นตอนช่วงอายุ 50 ปี (ใช่แล้วตอนนี้เขาอายุ 50) จริง ๆ เราดูหนังหลายเรื่องของเขาแต่ไม่ทันสังเกตด้วยซ้ำว่า มีเขาอยู่ในหนังเช่น Pride and Glory, Warrior, The Grey, Edge of Darkness, Zero Dark Thirty, Homefront จนกระทั่งเขาได้มาแสดงเรื่อง Captain America: The Winter Soldier นั่นแหละถึงเริ่มสัมผัสออร่ามาดนักแสดงหนังแอ็คชั่น ซึ่งมั่นใจว่าคาแรคเตอร์หัวหน้าทีม STRIKE ก่อนจะกลายมาเป็นครอสโบนส์ (วายร้ายคู่ปรับกัปตันอเมริกา) คือจุดเปลี่ยนเส้นทางการแสดงของเขาเพราะลุคในหนังหลั งจากนั้นมันถอดแบบมาจากตอนเล่น Captain America หมดเลยตั้งแต่ The Purge: Anarchy, The Purge: Election Year รวมถึงงานล่าสุดอย่าง Wheelman

ตอนแรกที่เห็นตัวอย่างบวกกับฉากเปิดมาก็โชว์ว่ารถเกี ยร์กระปุกเลยแอบคาดหวังว่า Wheelman จะมีฉาก car chase ที่ชวนให้นึกถึงยุค 70's แบบตอนดู Jack Reacher ภาคแรก แต่ปรากฏว่าหนังแทบไม่มีฉากขับรถไล่ล่าเลย จริง ๆ ต้องบอกว่าแทบไม่มีฉากให้ต้องซิ่งด้วยซ้ำ พอมีฉากซิ่งก็เน้นตัดต่อมุมกล้องแคบ ๆ เช่นด้านข้างรถ, ล้อรถ, เข็มไมล์, ถ่ายกระจกด้านหลังให้เห็นความฉวัดเฉวียนของผู้ล่า คือมันไม่มีมุมกว้าง ๆ โชว์ลีลาการขับขี่ที่เร้าใจเหมือนพวกหนังบล็อกบัสเตอ ร์หรือแบบที่คนทำ car chase นิยมกันอ่ะ ตัวหนังจริง ๆ จึงต้องบอกว่ามันคือแนวอาชญากรรมมากกว่า ลองนึกสภาพว่าคนรับงานปล้นระดับล่าง ๆ เหมือนเบบี้ใน Baby Driver ต้องถูกตราหน้าว่าจะขโมยเงินไปแล้วเขาจะต้องเคลียร์ต ัวเองยังไง จะไว้ใจใครได้บ้าง ซึ่งความสนุกของหนังมันอยู่ที่การพาคนดูอย่างเราให้ต กอยู่ในสถานการณ์เดียวกับตัวเอกนั่นแหละ ลองคาดหวังสไตล์แบบ Locke ที่ทอม ฮาร์ดี้แสดงอาจจะชอบกันก็ได้ แต่อย่าไปคิดว่ามันจะแอ็คชั่น-ทริลเลอร์เชียวล่ะ
