ในโลกอนาคต ประเทศญี่ปุ่นเกิดภาวะล่มสลาย ตกต่ำถึงขีดสุดในทุกๆ ด้าน เศรษฐกิจพังนินาศยับเยิน ผู้คนจำนวน 10 กว่าล้านกลายเป็นคนว่างงานในชั่วพริบตา สังคมเสื่อมโทรมทรุดหนัก เด็กและเยาวชนที่ต้องออกจากโรงเรียนกลางคันในปีนี้ มีจำนวน 80,000 คน จำนวนครู-อาจารย์ที่เสียชีวิตในหน้าที่ จากการใช้กำลังรุนแรงภายในโรงเรียน มีมากถึง 1,200 คน ระบบการศึกษาเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรุนแรง รวมทั้งอาชญากรรมที่ก่อขึ้นโดยวัยรุ่น ก็ปรากฏขึ้นมากมาย อาชญากรรมระบาดแพร่หลายไปทั่วทุกหนแห่ง ปัญหาวัยรุ่นกลายเป็นหนึ่งในปัญหาหลักระดับชาติ พวกเขาไม่ยอมเคารพเชื่อฟังคำสั่งของผู้ใหญ่ กระด้างกระเดื่องต่อครูบาอาจารย์ รัฐบาลจึงวางมาตรการตอบโต้ ด้วยการประกาศ “วิธีการปฏิรูปการศึกษายุคใหม่” ออกมา ซึ่งมีเป้าหมายเพื่อคืนสิทธิ์ให้กับผู้ใหญ่ โดยใช้เกม “Battle Royale” หรือที่เรียกสั้นๆ ว่า BR มากำราบเด็กแสบ ในแต่ละปี จะมีการสุ่มตัวอย่างเลือกนักเรียนวัยประมาณ 15 ปีขึ้นมา 1 ชั้นเรียน จำนวน 42 คน จากนั้นพาไปปล่อยทิ้งไว้บนเกาะร้าง โดยทางโรงเรียนทำทีเสมือนว่า กำลังพานักเรียนไปทัศนาจรนอกสถานที่ กติกาของเกม Battle Royale มีอยู่ง่ายๆ ว่านักเรียนทุกคนโดนสวมปลอกคอ ที่ผู้ควบคุมสามารถกดปุ่มให้ระเบิดได้ทันที ทุกคนจึงต้องเล่นเกมกันหมด ไม่ว่าจะยินยอมพร้อมใจ หรือรู้สึกต่อต้านก็ตาม ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น พื้นที่บนเกาะยังแบ่งเป็นโซนต่างๆ แต่ละวันจะมีการประกาศแจ้งให้ทราบเป็นระยะๆ ว่าที่ใดบ้างเป็นเขตอันตราย ซึ่งจะเปลี่ยนแปลงตลอดเวลา เพื่อให้นักเรียนทุกคนต้องเดินทางหลบหนีเอาตัวรอด อุปกรณ์ที่นักเรียนแต่ละคนจะได้รับเป็นถุงยังชีพ ซึ่งประกอบด้วยอาหารและน้ำเท่าที่จำเป็น รวมทั้งอาวุธป้องกันตัว แต่ละคนจะได้อาวุธไม่เหมือนกัน มีตั้งแต่ปืนระเบิดที่ทันสมัยอานุภาพล้างร้ายกาจ จนถึงอาวุธง่ายๆ อย่างเช่น ขวาน มีด หน้าไม้ สุดแท้แต่ใครจะโชคดีมากกว่ากัน ระยะเวลาในการเล่นเกมเกิดขึ้นส้นสุดลงภายใน 3 วัน และจะต้องขับเคี่ยวเพื่อให้ได้ผู้ชนะเพียงหนึ่งเดียว หากครบกำหนดแล้วยังสรรหาคนชนะไม่ได้ ทุกคนต้องถูกฆ่าตายหมด ที่สำคัญคือ ตัดความคิดเรื่องหลบหนีออกไปได้เลย เพราะไม่มีทางโดยสิ้นเชิง วิธีการเล่นเกมนั้นง่ายนิดเดียวคือ คนที่รอดชีวิตหนึ่งเดียว คนสุดท้ายที่ยังยืนหยัดอยู่เมื่อครบ 3 วันเป็นผู้ชนะ เมื่อทุกคนตกอยู่ในภาวะโดนบีบคั้นสุดขีด แต่ละคนก็มีวิธีการ “ดิ้นรน” ที่แตกต่างกัน ซึ่งวิธีการของแต่ละคนจะเป็นอย่างไร ใครจะเป็นผู้โชคดีที่รอดชีวิต …ในเกม BR!!

เรื่องย่อ
3 ปีให้หลังจากเหตุการณ์เกม แบทเทิล โรยัล ผู้รอดตาย “ชูยะ นานาฮาระ” ได้ก่อตั้งกลุ่มผู้ต่อต้านขึ้น โดยใช้ชื่อ “กลุ่ม Wild 7? ซึ่งมีจุดประสงค์ที่จะต่อต้านรัฐบาลญี่ปุ่น โดยได้จู่โจมทำลาย ตึกอาคารในเมืองหลวงโตเกียว หนึ่งปีต่อมา รัฐบาลจึงออกกฏทางเลือกการก่อการร้ายในสหัสวรรษใหม่ข ึ้นว่าโครงการ BR II ซึ่งทางรัฐบาลได้ส่งนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมปีที่ 3-บี จากโรงเรียนชิคาโนโตริเดะจำนวน 42 คน เพื่อ ตามล่า นานาฮาระ และกำจัดกลุ่ม Wild 7 และหนึ่งนักเรียนสาว ชิโอริ คิตาโนะ ซึ่งเป็นลูกสาว ของอาจารย์ใหญ่ผู้คุมเกม แบทเทิล โรยัล ก็เข้าร่วมกับภาระกิจนี้ด้วยเพื่อที่จะแก้แค้นให้พ่อ ของเธอ เพื่อเพิ่มศักยภาพการปฏิบัติภาระกิจครั้งนี้ รัฐบาลจึงให้นักเรียนใหม่เหล่านี้ทำงานกันเป็นคู่ โดยทุกคนจะถูกสวมปลอกคออิเลคทรอนิคไว้ด้วย ซึ่งหากนักเรียนคนใดสามารถสังหาร นานาฮาระ ได้ภายใน 3 วัน ก็จะสามารถกลับบ้านได้ แต่หากว่านักเรียนในคู่ไหนเสียชีวิตลง คู่หูก็จะถูกฆ่าด้วย เช่นกัน นักเรียนทั้งหมดจึงถุกส่งตัวไปยังเกาะแห่งหนึ่งซึ่งก ลุ่ม Wild 7 ได้ซ่อนอยู่ในแห่งนั้น ภาระกิจของพวกเขาก็เริ่มขึ้น!!
