Play Misty for Me เป็นผลงานการกำกับการแสดงเรื่องแรกของปู่ Clint ทั้งยังร่วมแสดงเป็นดีเจนักจัดรายการเพลงทางวิทยุยาม ดึกที่ชอบเปิดเพลงแจ๊ซ จนถูกคุกคามจากผู้หญิงโรคจิต แฟนรายการที่คลั่งไคลให้เขาเปิดเพลง "Misty" เป็นประจำทุกคืน

หนังเรื่องนี้ยังแสดงให้เห็นถึงความชอบเพลงแจ๊ซของปู ่คลินท์เป็นการส่วนตัว โดยจะเห็นได้จากที่เขาคัดเลือกเพลง Misty มาเป็นธีมของเรื่อง เพลงนี้เป็นแจ๊ซสแตนดาร์ดที่สร้างชื่อให้กับนักร้องม าแล้วหลายคน อาทิ Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Johnny Mathis และเขายังลงทุนซื้อลิขสิทธ์เพลง First Time Ever I Saw Your Face ของ Roberta Flack ตั้งแต่ยังไม่มีใครรู้จักมาเป็นเพลงเดินเรื่อง ก่อนที่เพลงนี้จะกลายเป็นเพลงฮิตติดชาร์ทในเวลาต่อมา นอกจากนี้เขายังใช้งานเทศกาลเพลง Monterey Jazz Festival เป็นฉากหนึ่งในหนังเรื่องนี้ด้วย

หนังถ่ายทำที่เมือง Carmel-by-the-Sea ซึ่งเป็นเมืองชายทะเลอยู่ระหว่าง LA กับ San Francisco โดยปู่คลินท์เลือกที่จะใช้สถานที่จริง ทั้งบ้านริมผาของพระเอกก็เป็นบ้านของเพื่อนสนิท สถานีวิทยุที่เขาเล่นเป็นดีเจ รวมทั้งร้านอาหารและบาร์ ต่อมาในปี 1986 ปู่ได้รับเลือกเป็นนายกเทศมนตรีที่เมืองนี้

ถึงแม้จะเป็นงานกำกับเรื่องแรกของปู่คลินท์ แต่เขาก็ได้ Don Siegel ผู้กำกับชื่อดังและเพื่อนสนิทที่ร่วมงานกันหลายเรื่อ งมาช่วยดูแลอยู่เบื้อง หลัง แถม Don ยังยอมเล่นเป็นตัวประกอบในบทบาร์เทนเดอร์ให้อีกต่างห าก
