เหตุการณ์ในหนังตอนนี้ เกิดขึ้นหลังสงครามนิวเคลียร์ ที่อารยะธรรมถูกทำลาย ผู้คนแยกย้ายกันอยู่กระจัดกระจาย เป็นกลุ่มย่อยๆ น้ำมันเป็นสิ่งที่มีค่าที่ทุกคนต้องการเพื่อนำมาใช้เ ป็oพลังงาน แม็คในตอนนี้เป็นอดีตตำรวจไปแล้ว เข้าไปเกี่ยวข้องกับเหตุการณ์แย่งชิงน้ำมันเมื่อได้เ ข้าไปช่วยเหลือผู้ เคราะห์ร้ายที่ถูกกลุ่มโจรที่นำโดย Humungus (Kjell Nilsson) ปล้นฆ่า ข่มขืน โดย Max ได้นำผู้บาดเจ็บมายังชุมชนสกับซ์ ที่ครอบครองบ่อน้ำมันอยู่กลางทะเลทราย เพื่อขอน้ำมันเป็นการแลกเปลี่ยน ในขณะที่กลุ่มโจรก็จ้องน้ำมันจากบ่อนี้ตาเป็นมัน ผู้นำของชุมชน คิดจะหลบหนีออกไปทางเหนือพร้อมกับน้ำมันที่ขุดได้ และจะทำลายบ่อน้ำมันไม่ให้โจรใช้ได้ โดยให้แม็คขับรถบรรทุกนำน้ำมันหนีไป กลุ่มโจรที่คลั่งแค้นพยายามไล่ล่าเพื่อแย่งชิงรถน้ำม ัน การต่อสู้บนทางหลวงระหว่างผู้หลบหนีกับผู้ไล่ล่า จึงเกิดขึ้นอย่างน่าตื่นเต้นและโหดเหี้ยม
