เรื่องย่อ :

ท่ามกลางการหลบหนีอันวุ่นวายของผู้ลี้ภัยในสงครามเกา หลีในเดือนธันวาคม ปี 1950 โชคชะตาของเด็กหนุ่มที่ชื่อว่า ด๊อกซู (เจิง มิน ฮวาง) ก็เปลี่ยนไปในชั่วพริบตาเมื่อเขาพลัดหลงกับ มักซูน น้องสาว พ่อของเขาจึงอยู่ตามหาน้องสาวและบอกให้เขาพาแม่ และพี่น้องหนีไปที่ปูซานก่อน ด๊อกซูอุทิศตนเองเพื่อสมาชิกในครอบครัวที่เหลืออยู่ โดยรับทำงานทุกอย่างที่สามารถหาเลี้ยงครอบครัวในฐานะ หัวหน้าครอบครัวแทนพ่อ ของเขา โดยการอุทิศตนของเขานำพาให้เขาถึงขั้นไปทำงานเสี่ยงต ายในเหมืองแร่ที่ เยอรมัน และที่นั่นก็ทำให้เขาได้พบกับ ยองจา (ยุนจิน คิม) ผู้เป็นรักครั้งแรกของเขา เขาและเธอกลับไปเริ่มต้นชีวิตครอบครัวที่ปูซาน และมีบุตรด้วยกัน 2 คน หลังจากนั้น ด๊อกซู และ ดัลกู ก็ตัดสินใจออกจากเกาหลีอีกครั้งในปี 1970 เพื่อหาโอกาสใหม่ๆที่ดีกว่าเดิม ซึ่งในครั้งนี้พวกเขาเดินทางสู่เวียดนามซึ่งอยู่ในภา วะสงครามอันยืดเยื้อ จนกระทั่งปัจจุบันที่เขาใช้ชีวิตอยู่ท่ามกลางญาติพี่ น้องที่มีทุกวันนี้ได้ เพราะเขา นี่คือภาพยนตร์ที่สร้างเพื่ออุทิศให้กับความหมายของค ำว่า ”พ่อ”
