ภาพยนตร์อเมริกันที่สร้างความอบอุ่นหัวใจเรื่องนี้ ดัดแปลงมาจากเรื่องเล่า เลื่องชื่อของประเทศญี่ปุ่น เรื่องราววีรกรรมของสุนัขพันธ์อากิตะ ชื่อเจ้า ฮาชิโกะ

ฮาชิโกะ เจ้าสุนัขสุดพิเศษ ตัวนี้ มีชื่อเล่นเรียกสั้นๆ ว่า ฮาชิ บังเอิญได้มาอยู่ร่วมกับเจ้าของของมัน ปาร์คเกอร์ (ริชาร์ด เกียร์) อาจารย์มหาวิทยาลัยทุกๆ เช้า ฮาชิ จะเดินตามไปส่งเจ้าของเดินทางขึ้นรถไฟไปทำงานที่สถาน ีรถไฟและทุกๆ เย็นก็จะมารอรับเขาเมื่อเลิกงาน

แต่ทุกอย่างเปลี่ยนไป เมื่อกิจวัตรประจำวันของพวกเขามีอันต้องสะดุดลง จนทำให้เรื่องราวของ ฮาชิกลายเป็นตำนานที่ถูกเล่าขานมายาวนานจากรุ่นสู่รุ ่น ความจงรักภักดีที่ฮาชิมอบให้แก่เจ้าของของมัน เผยให้เห็นถึงพลังแห่งความรักอันยิ่งใหญ่ที่ไม่ยอมให ้อะไรมาหยุดยั้ง แม้ฮาชิ จะแสดงออกเพียงสิ่งเรียบง่ายของฮาชิ แต่ก็ยังยืนยันถึงความรักอันยิ่งใหญ่เหนืออื่นใด
