30 กว่าปีก่อน มนุษย์ต่างดาวหรือเอเลี่ยนมาเยือนโลกเป็นครั้งแรก พวกเขาไม่ได้มาในฐานะผู้ทำลาย หรือมาพร้อมกับเทคโนโลยีก้าวล้ำนำหน้า แต่มาในฐานะผู้ลี้ภัยที่อาศัยในเขตปกครองพิเศษที่ 9 ของแอฟริกาใต้เท่านั้น จนกระทั่งการควบคุมเหล่าเอเลี่ยนตกเป็นหน้าที่ของ "พหุประชาชาติ" หรือ เอ็มเอ็นยู องค์กรเอกชนซึ่งไม่แยแสต่อสวัสดิภาพใดๆ ของเอเลี่ยน และรู้แค่ว่าจะทำกำไรจากสิ่งประดิษฐ์ที่ต้องอาศัยดีเ อ็นเอของเอเลี่ยนเท่า นั้น และเมื่อทุกอย่างล้มเหลว เอ็มเอ็นยูเริ่มขับไล่อมนุษย์ออกจากเขตปกครองพิเศษที ่ 9 แต่แล้ว วิคัส แวน แดร์ มัว (ชาร์ลโต คอปลีย์) หนึ่งในเจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนาม กลับติดเชื้อไวรัสจากพวกเอเลี่ยนซึ่งทำให้ดีเอ็นเอใน ตัวเขาค่อยๆ เปลี่ยนแปลงไป นับแต่นั้น เขากลายเป็นคนที่ทั้งโลกตามล่า เพราะมีค่าไม่ต่างจากกุญแจที่จะไขไปสู่ความลับเกี่ยว กับเทคโนโลยีของเอ เลี่ยน ไม่เหลือที่ไหนให้เขาซ่อนตัวได้อีกแล้ว นอกจากเขตปกครองพิเศษที่ 9
