ทหารเยอรมันบุกยึดโปแลนด์ช่วงสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 อังเดรีชสามีอันนาซึ่งเป็นนายทหารโปแลนด์ถูกเยอรมันจ ับกุมไว้ในค่ายกักกัน อันนากับลูกสาว..นิก้าต้องหนีอย่างหัวซุกหัวซุนเพื่อ ความอยู่รอด อังเดรีชกับนายทหารจำนวนมากถูกโซเวียตฆ่าตายในป่าคัท ยิน แต่โซเวียตปฏิเสธข่าวและป้ายสีให้เยอรมัน รวมทั้งจับกุมทุกคนที่มีความเห็นตรงกันข้าม และนี่คือเรื่องราวที่ได้จากบันทึก
