อาเวอรี่ ครอส เป็นตำรวจหนุ่มทะเยอทะยานในหน้าที่การงาน และซื่อตรงต่อวิชาชีพ ถึงแม้ว่าเพื่อนร่วมงานหลายคน จะเข้าไปเกี่ยวข้องกับเงินสกปรก แต่อาเวอรี่ก็พยายามเอาตัวออกห่างมาโดยตลอด ชายหนุ่มทำงานหนักจนไม่มีเวลาให้กับ ลูกและเมีย (รับบทโดย โรส เบิร์น) คิดไม่ตกว่าจะหาจุดสมดุลระหว่างความรักในอาชีพและการ ดูแลครอบครัวให้อยู่ดี กินดีได้อย่างไร
