Elysium กล่าวถึงในปี 2159 ในตอนนั้นเหล่ามนุษย์แบ่งคลาสกันอย่างชัดเจนเป็น 2 คลาส คลาสแรกคือเหล่ามนุษย์ที่ได้ไปสร้างอาณานิคมบนอวกาศน าม อีไลเซี่ยม และคลาสที่สอง คือเหล่ามนุษย์ที่ต้องอาศัยอยู่บนโลกที่ตายแล้ว เลขานุการ โร้ด (โจดี้ ฟอสเตอร์) เจ้าหน้าที่แห่งรัฐบาลผู้เที่ยงตรงได้ทำทุกวิถีทางที ่จะให้ประชาชนคลาสแรกได้อยู่กัน
อย่างสบายใน อีไลเซี่ยม นี้ โดยไม่มีเหล่ามนุษย์คลาสสองเข้ามาได้แต่อย่างใด ไม่ว่าเหล่ามนุษย์บนโลกที่ตายไปแล้วจะพยายามเข้าไปยั ง อีไลเซี่ยม ยังไงก็ไม่เป็นผล แต่ทว่าชายหนุ่มผู้โชคร้ายนาม แม็กซ์ (แมท เดม่อน) ได้กลับมาประจำการเขาต้องทำทุกวิถีทางที่จะช่วยชีวิต ของตัวเขาเองและโลกที่ตายไปแล้ว
