เล่าเรื่องราวช่วงปี 1905 หรือในช่วงชินมิยังเกียว (Shinmiyangyo) ที่ทหารอเมริกันเข้ามาแผ่นดินเกาหลี เมื่อเด็กผู้ชายในครอบครัวคนรับใช้ได้หนีชีวิตที่โหด ร้ายไปพร้อมกับเรือรบอเมริกัน
เขาใช้ชีวิตในต่างแดนราว 30 ปี กลายเป็นคนอเมริกันโดยสมบูรณ์ ก่อนจะกลับมาแผ่นดินเกิดอีกครั้งในฐานะทหารประจำกองท ัพเรือสหรัฐฯ และแล้วโชคชะตาก็พาให้เขาตกหลุมรักหญิงสาวจากตระกูลส ูงศักดิ์
