The Journalist: คนข่าวเข้ม (The Journalist) เป็นผลงานดัดแปลงจากภาพยนตร์ยอดฮิตชื่อเดียวกันในปี 2019 ซึ่งการเผชิญหน้ากับอาชญากรรมทางการเมืองและเรื่องอื ้อฉาวในช่วงไม่กี่ปีที่ผ่านมาที่ปรากฏในภาพยนตร์ได้ส ร้างกระแสความสนใจอย่างล้นหลาม การตีแผ่วิธีจัดการกับข้อห้ามทางสังคมที่น่าตกตะลึง พร้อมกับการดำเนินเรื่องที่ตื่นเต้นระทึกใจ และรูปแบบการนำเสนอที่มีสไตล์ทำให้ภาพยนตร์คว้ารางวั ล 3 สาขาสำคัญมาได้ในงานประกาศรางวัลเจแปน อะคาเดมี อวอร์ดครั้งที่ 43 รวมถึงสาขาภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยมแห่งปี และรางวัลด้านภาพยนตร์จากเวทีอื่นๆ อีกมากมาย ซีรีส์ชุดใหม่ The Journalist ได้นักแสดงสาว เรียวโกะ โยเนะคุระ (จาก Doctor X และ Legal V) มารับบทแอนนา มัตสึดะ นักข่าวท้องถิ่นจาก Toto Newspaper ตัวละครนำของเรื่องซึ่งได้รับสมญานามว่า ผู้กล้าฉีกกรอบแห่งวงการสื่อ ซึ่งพยายามเปิดโปงประเด็นปัญหาในสังคมญี่ปุ่นยุคใหม่ ส่วนมิจิฮิโตะ ฟูจิอิซึ่งกำกับภาพยนตร์ต้นฉบับจะมานั่งแท่นผู้กำกับ ซีรีส์เรื่องนี้ด้วย
