เรื่องย่อ
ที่สวนสาธารณะเซ็นทรัล พาร์ค เวลา 8.00 น. จู่ ๆ ผู้คนก็เกิดอาการแปลก ๆ ฆ่าตัวตายกันเอง จากนั้นก็มีอาการเช่นนี้ไปทั่วสหรัฐอเมริกา ที่ฟิลาเดลเฟีย เอลเลียต มัวร์ (มาร์ค วอร์ลเบิร์ก) ครูสอนวิทยาศาสตร์ในโรงเรียนมัธยมได้รับรู้ถึงปรากฏก ารณ์ประหลาดนี้ จึงพยามยามหลบหนีพร้อมด้วย อัลม่า (ซูอี้ เดสชาแนล) ภรรยาที่ระหองระแหงกัน แต่ทั้งคู่ก็ร่วมกันต่อสู้มา โดยมี จูเลี่ยน (จอห์น ลาไกวซาโม่) ครูสอนคณิตศาสตร์ที่โรงเรียนเดียวกันกับเอลเลียต และ เจส (แอชลิน ซานเชส) ลูกสาววัย 8 ขวบของจูเลี่ยน ทั้งหมดมุ่งหน้าไปยังดินแดนปศุสัตว์ในเพนซิลเวเนีย ด้วยความหวังว่า คงรอดพ้นจากการจู่โจมที่น่ากลัวเช่นนี้ และแผ่กระจายเป็นวงกว้างออกไปไม่หยุดยั้ง โดยไม่มีใครรู้ว่ามันเกิดจากอะไร การก่อการร้ายหรือสารพิษหรือเป็นสิ่งที่รัฐบาลทดลองก ับประชาชน
