ยูกิ จูได คือพระเอกและตัวละครหลักของเรื่องเกมกลคนอัจฉริยะ GX การ์ดที่ใช้หลักๆ คือ การ์ดตระกูล E-Hero (อีเลเม็นทัลฮีโร่) และนีโอสเปเชียน ประจำอยู่ในหอโอชีริสเรด ชื่อตัวละครตัวนี้ตั้งขึ้นโดยผู้เขียน ทะกะฮะชิ คะซึกิ “ยูกิ” (้Š ๅŸŽ ) มีความหมายว่า หิมะ “” ส่วนคำที่เป็นชื่อ“จูได” (ๅ ไปฃ ) ซึ่งแปลว่าวัย 10 ปี หรือรุ่นที่ 10 แฝงความหมายว่าอยากให้เด็กวัย 10 ปีขึ้นไปดู

ในตอนที่ 1 ระหว่างที่จูไดกำลังเดินทางไปเข้ารับการสอบเข้าดูเอล อคาเดมี จูไดได้พบกับจ้าวแห่งดูเอลลิสต์ (King of duelist) มุโต ยูกิ ตอนโตโดยบังเอิญ ซึ่งยูกิได้มอบการ์ดฮาเนะคุริโบให้แก่จูไดโดยบอกว่าก าร์ดใบนี้อยากไปอยู่ด้วย ในตอนเด็กเขามีความใฝ่ฝันที่จะเป็นฮีโร่ผู้ช่วยอวกาศ และจักรวาล

จูไดสามารถเห็นวิญญาณที่อยู่ในการ์ดได้ตั้งแต่ตอนเด็ กๆ ซึ่งเหล่านีโอสเปเชี่ยนของเขาได้เรียกเขาว่าเป็นผู้ท ี่มีพลังมืดที่ถูกต้อง โดยอุปนิสัยแล้วจูไดเป็นบุคคลที่เบิกบานรักสนุก เป็นคนที่ชอบการเล่นการ์ดและฮีโร่เป็นชีวิตจิตใจ มีสปิริตในการเล่นการ์ดสูงมาก ทุกครั้งไม่ว่าจะแพ้หรือชนะก็จะยอมรับและคิดว่าเป็นก ารเล่นที่สนุก พร้อมกับจะพูดว่า “Gotcha เป็นดูเอลที่สนุกมากเลยนะ” ทุกครั้ง เขาเป็นดูเอลริสต์ที่มีชีวิตชีวากระทั่งถึงช่วงปลายข องภาคที่ 3 คาบไปถึงช่วงปลายของภาคที่ 4 เมื่อบุคลิกภาพของเขาได้เปลี่ยนไป พร้อมกับตระหนักว่าการเล่นการ์ดนั้นไม่ได้มีแต่ความส นุกสนานอย่างเดียว ยังมีความโศกเศร้าและความทุกข์ผสานอยู่ด้วย

ในตอนเด็ก การ์ดที่เป็นตัวตัดสินของยูกิคือ “ยูเบล” ทุกครั้งที่เล่นจะทำให้คู่ต่อสู้สลบทุกครั้ง และด้วยเหตุนี้จูไดจึงต้องอยู่อย่างโดดเดี่ยวตามลำพั งเพราะไม่มีใครกล้ามาเล่นด้วย แต่หลังจากนั้นพ่อแม่ของจูไดก็ได้ทำการลบความทรงจำเก ี่ยวกับยูเบลออกจากจูได ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างจูไดและยูเบลมีมาตั้งแต่ชาติก่อน หน้านี้แล้ว โดยจูไดนั้นเป็นเจ้าชาย และยูเบลเป็นผู้ติดตาม ทั้ง 2 มีฐานะเป็นเพื่อนกัน

จูไดถูกมะรุฟุจิ โช และทีราโน่ เคนซันเรียกว่า “อะนิกิ” ซึ่งมีความหมายนัยๆ ว่า “ลูกพี่”
