เจ้าหน้าที่พิเศษจากรัฐบาลนาม เจมส์ เวสท์ (Will Smith) หนุ่มเจ้าเสน่ห์และฉลาด พร้อมกับเจ้าหน้าที่พิเศษอีกคน กอร์ดอน (Kevin Kline) ผู้เป็นหนึ่งด้านการปลอมตัว และนักประดิษฐ์อัจฉริยะไม่ว่าเล็กหรือใหญ่ ถูกส่งไปติดตามแผนร้ายของ Dr.Arliss Loveless (Kenneth Branagh) ผู้ไร้ซึ่งความรัก ที่กำลังวางแผนลอบสังหารประธานาธิบดีของอเมริกา โดยมี ยานรบขนาดยักษ์เดินได้ พร้อมอาวุธหนักเพียบ ที่ถูกขนานนามว่า The Tarantula
