ราวกับจะช่วยพิสูจน์คำพูดของซามูไรคนนั้น พวกเขาถูกล้อมโดยคนของคิคุอิ แต่ซามูไรแปลกหน้าได้ใช้สติปัญญาช่วยแก้ไขสถานการณ์ไ ว้ได้ มุโรโตะ ฮัมเบ ผู้เป็นทั้งองครักษ์และที่ปรึกษาของคิคุอิเกิดประทับ ใจในความสามารถของเขา ถึงกับเสนอตำแหน่งให้มาทำงานร่วมกัน ทว่าเขาตัดสินใจที่จะอยู่ข้างซามูไรหนุ่มบวกกับความเ ป็นห่วงความปลอดภัยของ มุทซึดะด้วย
คุโรซาว่าสร้างภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ต่อจากเรื่อง "Yojimbo" โดยใช้พระเอกคนเดียวกัน ไม่มีใครรู้ว่าซันจูโรมาจากไหน เขามาช่วยซามูไรทั้งเก้าต่อสู้เพื่อความสงบยุติธรรมแ ล้วก็จากไปอีกอย่างไร้ ร่องรอย
