The Man Who Killed Don Quixote จะดัดแปลงจากนิยายเรื่อง Don Quixote (1605 และ 1615)ของ มิกูเอล เดอ เซอร์เวนเตส ซาเวรา (Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra) ซึ่งต่อมาได้รับการดัดแปลงเป็นบทละครเวทีสุดคลาสสิคใ นชื่อ Man of La Mancha (1964) โดยจะเล่าถึงชายแก่สติฟั่นเฟือนที่อุปโลกตนเองเป็น ดอน กิโฮเต้ ขุนพลสุดห้าวหาญที่ได้เพื่อนร่วมทางอย่าง โทบี้ ผู้กำกับหนุ่มจากศตวรรษที่ 21 ที่หลงยุคมาร่วมผจญภัยในโลกที่ความจริงและภาพลวงตาซ้ อนทับกันอย่างน่าอัศจรรย์
