ซีรีส์สร้างจากมังงะชื่อดัง ที่เล่าเรื่องราวของ อาริสึ (เคนโตะ ยามาซากิ) ชายหนุ่มตกงานผู้หลงรักการเล่นเกมเป็นชีวิตจิตใจ หรือเรียกง่าย ๆ ว่า เด็กติดเกมนั่นแหละ … จนกระทั่งวันหนึ่ง เขาพบว่าตัวเองอยู่ในกรุงโตเกียวที่ร้างผู้คน มีเพียงเขาและเพื่อน ๆ เท่านั้นที่อยู่ในดินแดนมรณะ ณ โลกคู่ขนานแห่งนี้

อาริสึได้เจอ อูซางิ หญิงสาวที่ฟันฝ่าในเกมเพียงลำพัง ทั้งคู่จะออกไปไขปริศนาครั้งแล้วครั้งเล่าด้วยกัน โดยต้องเสี่ยงตายและทำทุกทางเพื่อให้มีชีวิตรอด

โดยกฎของที่นี่ก็คือ เวลาชีวิตของพวกเขาถูกนับถอยหลังไปเรื่อย ๆ และทางเดียวที่จะต่อเวลาชีวิตได้ก็คือการเล่นเกม ซึ่งเกมของโลกนี้ไม่ใช่เกมที่จะพลาดแล้วเริ่มใหม่ได้ เพราะถ้าพลาดมันหมายถึงชีวิต !
