เล่าเรื่องเหตุการณ์ภายหลังจากที่โลกโดนฝูงซอมบี้ถล่ ม และโลกก็เต็มไปด้วยฝูงซอมบี้จนแทบจะไม่มีมนุษย์ปรกติ เหลืออยู่แล้ว ในฉากไตเติ้ลของเรื่องได้เล่าเหตุการณ์เกี่ยวกับการแ พร่ระบาดของเชื้อซอมบี้ ที่ระบาดไปทุกหนทุกแห่ง ไม่ว่าจะที่ทำเนียบขาว ในเรือนจำ งานแต่งงาน และบาร์ระบำโป๊ !!! ฉากเมืองที่ร้างผู้คน บ้านเรือนและร้านค้าที่เงียบเหงา ซากรถยนต์และซากเครื่องบิน ที่พังพินาศก็ออกแบบได้น่าตื่นตาตื่นใจดีครับ แทบจะไม่ต้องอธิบายเลยว่าก่อนหน้านั้นเกิดอะไรขึ้นบ้ าง
ตัวเอกของเรื่องชื่อ Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) เป็นนักศึกษาวิทยาลัยที่มีชีวิตโดดเดี่ยว และมีปัญหาในการเข้าสังคม เขาไม่มีเพื่อน ไม่มีความผูกพันกับครอบครัว เขาใช้ชีวิตสุดสัปดาห์อยู่หน้าจอคอมพิวเตอร์ และที่สำคัญคือ เขายังบริสุทธิ์ (!?!) คนขี้กลัวอย่างเขาสามารถรอดจากสถานการณ์ซอมบี้ถล่มโล ก โดยการทำตามกฎที่ตนเองตั้งขึ้นไว้อย่างเคร่งครัด
