นี่คือภาคต่อที่สร้างหลังจากภาคแรกฉายไปแล้วถึง 8 ปีครับ โดยที่คู่หูผู้อำนวยการสร้าง Menahem Golan และ Yoram Globus แห่งบริษัท The Cannon Films ที่กำลังก่อร่างสร้างชื่อด้วยการทำหนังแอ็กชันออกมาต ีตลาดอย่างต่อเนื่อง บ้างก็ไปซื้อสิทธิ์จากหนังดังๆ มาทำภาคต่อ และ Death Wish ก็คือหนังที่ทั้งสองหมายตาครับ พวกเขาเลยไปติดต่อขอซื้อสิทธิ์หนังเรื่องนี้จาก Dino De Laurentiis ด้วยสนนราคาราว 200,000 เหรียญครับ

ในภาคนี้ พอล เคอร์ซี่ย์ (Charles Bronson) พยายามกลับมาใช้ชีวิตธรรมดาที่เมืองลอส แองเจลิส ที่นี่เขาได้เจอคนรักใหม่ และหาทางดูแลรักษาลูกสาวให้มีอาการดีขึ้นหลังจากเหตุ สะเทือนขวัญเมื่อคราว ก่อน แต่ก็ยังไม่วายมีพวกชั่วร้ายในทรามมาพรากลูกสาวไปจาก เขาอีก ทำให้พอลต้องกลับมาเป็นจอมทวงแค้น เดินหน้าลุย ล่า และฆ่าพวกมัน

ภาคนี้ออกแนวบู๊ล้างแค้นเต็มตัวครับ ได้ Vincent Gardenia กลับมาแสดงเป็นสารวัตรแฟรงค์อีกครั้ง หนังมีฉากบู๊เยอะขึ้นนะครับ แต่สำหรับผมแล้ว ผมชอบภาคแรกมากกว่า เพราะมันไม่ได้มีแต่บู๊เท่านั้น ทว่ามันมีเรื่องอารมณ์ เรื่องแง่มุมความเป็นคนหลายๆ อย่างแทรกลงมา ทำให้หนังมีสัดส่วนของสาระชวนคิดและแอ็กชันชวนสะใจใน ปริมาณสูสีกัน

ส่วนในเรื่องนี้ออกแนวแอ็กชันเอากระสุนมาแลกกันเป็นห ลัก ซึ่งก็ทำให้หนังกลายเป็นแอ็กชันทั่วๆ ไปมากกว่าจะเป็นหนังล้างแค้นที่แฝงไว้ซึ่งแง่มุมการว ิพากษ์สังคมเหมือนคราว ก่อน แต่กระนั้นถ้าถามว่าบู๊มันส์ไหม ก็บอกได้ว่าดูเพลินในระดับหนึ่งครับ คอแอ็กชันแนวล่าล้างแค้นก็ไม่น่าจะผิดหวัง

ผู้กำกับยังคงเป็น Michael Winner จากภาคแรกครับ ซึ่งตอนแรกทาง Cannon อยากให้ Golan มากำกับ แต่ Bronson ยืนกรานว่าคนกำกับต้องเป็น Winner เท่านั้น ไม่งั้นเขาก็พร้อมจะอำลา ทำให้ผู้สร้างต้องยอมครับ

จุดเด่นจริงๆ ของหนังเรื่องนี้ก็คือการแสดงของ Bronson ครับ เขายังสามารถสื่ออารมณ์เคียดแค้นได้ดี อีกทั้งจังหวะการบู๊แบบใช้สมองเล็กๆ ก็ถือว่ายังทำให้คนดูรู้สึกได้ถึงความเป็น "พอล เคอร์ซี่ย์" อยู่

Open-minded architect Paul Kersey returns to New York City from vacationing with his wife, feeling on top of the world. At the office, his cynical coworker gives him the welcome-back with a warning on the rising crime rate. But Paul, a bleeding-heart liberal, thinks of crime as being caused by poverty. However his coworker s ranting proves to be more than true when Paul s wife is killed and his daughter is raped in his own apartment. The police have no reliable leads and his overly sensitive son-in-law only exacerbates Paul s feeling of hopelessness. He is now facing the reality that the police can t be everywhere at once. Out of sympathy his boss gives him an assignment in sunny Arizona where Paul gets a taste of the Old West ideals. He returns to New York with a compromised view on muggers...
