เป็นเรื่องราวชุลมุนของ รันม่า ซาโอโตเมะ พระเอกของเรื่อง ซึ่งได้เดินทางฝึกวิชากับเก็นม่าผู้พ่อในเมืองจีน แต่เกิดอุบัติเหตุพลัดตกลงไปในบ่อน้ำต้องคำสาป ทำให้รันม่ากลายเป็นผู้หญิงผมแดงเมื่อโดนน้ำเย็น ส่วนเก็นม่ากลายเป็นหมีแพนด้า ทั้งคู่จะกลับเป็นร่างเดิมเมื่อโดนน้ำร้อน เมื่อทั้งสองกลับมายังญี่ปุ่น เก็นม่าได้ตกลงกับ โซอุน เทนโด เพื่อนรักผู้เป็นเจ้าของสำนักบู้แหลกซาโอโตเมะ ในการพาตนเองและรันม่าย้ายไปอาศัยอยู่บ้านเดียวกับโซ อุน เนื่องจากเก็นม่าต้องการให้รันม่าสืบทอดสำนักของโซอุ นเพราะโซอุนไม่มีลูกชาย รันม่าจึงถูกจับมัดมือชกให้แต่งงาน กับ อากาเนะ เทนโด ลูกสาวคนเล็กของบ้านเทนโด ทั้งๆที่ทั้งสองไม่รู้จักกันและไม่รู้เรื่องมาก่อน ซึ่งภายหลังทั้งสองต้องพบอุปสรรคมากมาย ทั้งที่ตนเองและคนอื่นก่อเอาไว้
